Seville and Rome marathons were a cracking start to the year. The Reading Half Marathon went well too, with a sprint finish getting me under the 2 hour mark.

I joined the last part of Neil Russell’s incredible running journey from Oxford to Cambridge on April 6th. What a star he is !

Special donation received

Thank you to Mark Heasman for his donation of a book celebrating 40 years of British Sport that was sent to John Major in 1993when he was the UK’s Prime Minister. Many of the images in the book are signed by heroes including Roger Bannister, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Tessa Sanderson. We will be arranging an auction of the book soon. 14 cyclists including a number with Parkinson’s brought together by Cure Parkinson’s to take on the French Alps over 6 days. Between 536km and 792km of distance and 8,400m to 14,900m of ascent depending which team I am able to make each day

June 7th : Arctic marathon in Vesterelen

The island of Vesterelen in the arctic circle could have been made for the marathon. 42.2km around with beautiful scenery

June 15th: The Hampshire Hoppit Marathon

This year is the 10th running of the Hampshire Hoppit. Well known for steep climbs and wonderful views across the Downs.

June 23rd- July 4th: Cycling North to South of Portugal

Over 20 cyclists, most of whom have Parkinson’s, will cycle through Portugal over 10 days , 817km and 7, 510 of ascent. This brings together a number of the team who cycled in the arctic circle last year and from Brighton to Barcelona the year before.

July 18th-26th: Cycle tour of Ireland

7 days of cycling with days varying from 40 miles to 90 miles crossing from east to west of Ireland , heading north and then back east once more. A number of the brilliant team from near Tadley who have been on a number of challenges over the years are joining with some of the Shaughnessy family too!

August 1st : Climbing up the rigging of the Cutty Sark
