Meet the Team

  • Gary Shaughnessy

Every cycling team taking on an adventure of this complexity needs incredible organisation, to make sure things are booked but not double booked and certainly not booked 3 times. To makes sure things are realistic, yet fun. My job has been to find these people and I’ve done that and more. Thank you to all the team, to Janet, Emma, Debbie, Elena and to everyone who has helped make this a pleasure to be part of. Oh, and I apologise in advance for when I say Yes when I should say No!

  • Andy Tucker

The “ideas” person of the team. It was Andy’s idea to take on 3 legged running with me and we are now double world record holders! An excellent triathlete and cycling is his forte. Puncture repair speed sensation!

  • Teresa Robbins

Veteran GB triathlete after just a few years in the sport and getting better and better. Hidden competitive streak ? ( see photo at the end of the Barcelona marathon in 2015 when I finished just ahead of her!!)

  • Tracey Grigoleit

Member of the 100 Marathon Club and parkrun tourist extraordinaire . Tracey knows people everywhere but does have a tendency to create uncycleable cycle routes!

  • Pete Grigoleit

Member of the 100 Marathon Club too and once did 10 marathons in 10 days. Failed to navigate his way back home from our anniversary party but we are going to limit the red wine this time!

  • Ben Money

Youngest member of the team and may struggle with “life in the 70’s reminiscence “ sessions. Already used the trip as an excuse to arrange a trade in to get himself a new bike! Lost bike in France on last trip!

  • Steve Dawes

President of Newbury Cycle Club , so must know what he’s doing! Set off the seasickness in last years rowing during Arch to Arc. We hope that he won’t be bringing Ralph or Hughie with him this year!

  • Joe Rock

The only American in the team but still insists on saying “aloo-min-um”. Joe is a veteran having driven across Europe from Switzerland in 2019 and to Paris in 2022. He was only popping out to the shops! Joe’s cooking was a delight that I relied on when he was my neighbour in Switzerland and we enjoyed many a glass of red wine too!

  • Patrick Hill

Mr Marathon Man in the past and once cycled 200 miles in a day but nowadays increasingly built for comfort and not speed. The legal brains of the team so will keep us out of trouble – maybe . Says he can speak German which may mean his greatest contribution to the team will be finding a suitable hostelry and ordering a round (or two) at the end of the day.
